 Vocabulary: False Friends

FALSE FRIENDS are words that look similar to words in your own language so you can wrongly assume that the meaning is the same.

Here we give you three examples:

. Camping: the activity of holidaying in a tent: I don`t like camping, I prefer staying at hotels
. Camp-site: a place for setting up tents: Do you know a good camp-site where I go on holidays?

. Shopping: the activity of going to shops/storesand buying things: In general, men don`t like shopping.
. Shopping centre (Br)/ (shopping) mall (Ame): a group of shops/stores built together: There`s a new shopping centre/mall near my house.

. Chauffeur: a uniformed car-driver employed to drive others: He works as a chauffeur, driving ministers from place to place.
. Driver: a person who drives a car, lorry, bus, etc.: The police stopped every vehicle on the motorway and asked the drivers to show their licence.

Call it love and devotion
Call it the mom's adoration (foundation)
A special bond of creation, hah
For all the single mums out there
Going through frustation
Clean Bandit, Sean-Da-Paul, Anne-marie, sing, make them hear

She works the night, by the water
She's gonna stress, so far away from her father's …..
She just wants a life for her baby
All on her own, no one will come
She's got to save him (daily struggle)

She tells him "ooh love"
No one's ever gonna hurt you, love
I'm gonna give you all of my love
Nobody matters like you (stay up there, stay up there)
She tells him "your life ain't gonna be nothing like my life (straight)
You're gonna grow and have a good life
I'm gonna do what I've got to do" (stay up there, stay up there)

So, rockabye baby, rockabye
I'm gonna rock you
Rockabye baby, don't you cry
Somebody's got you
Rockabye baby, rockabye
I'm gonna rock you
Rockabye baby, don't you cry
Rockabye, no (Rockabye-rocka-rocka-rocka-bye) (oh)

Single mom what you doing out there?
Facing the hard life without no fear
Just see and know that you really care
'Cause any obstacle come you well prepared
And no mamma you never shed tear
'Cause you haffi set things year after year
And you give the youth love beyond compare
You find the school fee and the bus fare
Hmmmm more when paps disappear
In a wrong bar can't find him nowhere
Steadily you work flow, heavily you know so you nah stop
No time no time fi a jeer

Now she gotta a six year old
Trying to keep him warm, Trying to keep all the cold
When he looks her in the eyes
He don't know he's safe when she says

FUTURE: Going to

. Usamos be going to + verbo (infinitivo) para hablar de planes futuros y predicciones.

It's very cloudy. I think it's going to rain (prediction)

Next year I'm going to start university. (plan)

. Cuando hablamos usamos contracciones; I´m, she's, they're, etc..

. Informalmente podemos usar GONNA en vez de going to: I'm gonna play tennis tomorrow.

. Con el verbo go, podemos decir: I´m going to go o I'm going

Happy April Fools' Day!!!

April Fools' Day (alternatively April Fool's Day, sometimes All Fools' Day) is celebrated on 1 April every year. April 1 is not a national holiday, but is widely recognized and celebrated in various countries as a day when people play practical jokes and hoaxes on each other called April fools.
