Today is The Oscars, so it´s a good opportunity  to learn about movies.

. Vocabulary: DIFFERENT KINDS OF MOVIES.

Movie, Film and Picture mean the same, but movie is more common in American English.

. An action movie

. An animation: a film/movie in which drawings of people and animals seem to move.

. A comedy: a film/movie that is intended to be funny, usually with a happy ending.

. A drama

. A historical movie: a film/movie about people and events in the past.

. A horror film

. A musical: a film/movie in which part or all the story is told using songs and often dancing.

. A rom-com: a romantic comedy.

. A science-fiction movie: a film/movie that is based on imagined scientific discoveries of the future, and often deals with space travel and life on other planets.

. A thriller: a film/movie with an exciting story, especially one about crime or spying.

. A war movie

. A western: a film/movie about life in the western US in the 19th century, usually involving cowboys.
