. VOCABULARY: DIFFERENT TYPES OF HOUSES.
. TERRACED HOUSE: (picture) (AmE row house, town house) a house that is one of a row of houses that are joined together on each side.
. DETACHED HOUSE: a house that is not joined to another house on either side.
. SEMI-DETACHED HOUSE: a house which is joined to another house by a wall on one side that is shared.
. COTTAGE: a small house, especially in the country.
. MANSION: a large impressive house.
. FLAT: (AmE APARTMENT) a set of rooms for living in, usually on one floor of a building.
. PENTHOUSE: an expensive and comfortable flat/apartment at the top of a tall building.
