PRONUNCIATION RULE.

¿Sabías que cuando el verbo y el sustantivo de 2 sílabas se escriben igual  para diferenciarlos el sustantivo se acentúa en la primera sílaba y el verbo en la segunda? Por lo tanto decimos así:

- Some women wear a lot of MAKE-up. (El acento en make) (Algunas mujeres usan mucho maquillaje.)

- Mary's making UP. (El acento en UP) (María se está maquillando)

- Messi has broken lots of REcord by scoring so many goals. (El acento en RE) (Messi rompió un montón de records haciendo tantos goles).

- La Sole's reCORded a new album recently. (El acento en CORD)(La Sole grabó un nuevo álbum recientemente).

An intensifier makes an adjective stronger. Some adjectives have their own intensifiers. For example:

. Look at that bear! It`s SOAKING WET. (picture)

. You have to shout to my grandmother. She`s STONE DEAF.

. The walls of my flat are PAPER THIN. You can hear everything.

. Be careful with that knife. It`s RAZOR SHARP.

. Who left the door WIDE OPEN? It`s freezing in here!

. New Word: TEXT NECK.

   Do you use your cell, your smartphone or your tablet device very much? If so, be careful `cause you can suffer from text neck.

What's text neck?

Damage to the neck muscles and spine caused by frequently bending over a smartphone, tablet device, etc for long periods of time.

'A newly coined condition – text neck – reveals that slumping over your mobile phone for hours on end heaps so much pressure on your spine, that we're giving ourselves long-lasting back problems.'

Useful Advice: try not to use your cell so many hours if you don`t wanna develop text neck.
